'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith renews battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he reminisces about the nail-biting final moments of Swansea's epic comeback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The encounter ended with Galbraith briefly donning a spectator's eyewear following the post-goal scrum.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith struck the post with a long-range effort from distance, and the defender immediately converted the rebound before racing off toward the home end to revel in the moment, with fans mobbing the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The victory capped an unbelievable recovery given Swansea had trailed 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. During the euphoria, there was some collateral damage. He shared, "There was a fan shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're individuals, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The victory earned a upcoming match at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith pushed hard at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with his former club in February. Galbraith had an excellent perspective when Orient took the lead in spectacular fashion, with the attacker's first-time shot from about long distance going in via the bar and the City goalkeeper. It seems unfair that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've awarded it to him for taking the effort on from that far out," says Galbraith, who started in midfield before switching to right flank after they changed shape. That meant facing off against Jack Grealish, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the attacker was among the opposition who complimented the way his former team approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Physically they are exceptional but even the simple things and simple things, they can just execute repeatedly," Galbraith says. "It appears that they always find their target and they know how to manage and neutralize a game. You can think you're doing well and then suddenly they will just deliver a through ball past your midfield without you even seeing. You have to be focused at all times of the game. It takes a resilient mindset and concentration just to stay in the game."

New Chapter

The club were keen on Galbraith in January and secured his signature to bring him in in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He became a favorite as a popular figure across a couple of years at Orient and has rapidly replicated that in Wales. At the London club he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who four years ago gave Galbraith his first extended run in senior football on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at lower division Salford, before he permanently left his boyhood club.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a bit naive going into men's football. I think many athletes would say development squad matches is entirely separate. Sometimes it feels like possession is exchanged without serious challenge. You see few tackles or duels. Once you start playing first-team football you have to learn quickly."

Country Call-ups

He has demonstrated that maturation for both domestically and internationally, shining for Northern Ireland, who are fighting to qualify for the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the past five games, including both legs fixtures against a football powerhouse. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's previous international manager, gave him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he controls possession and his eye for a game-changing assist.

Early Days

It has been a remarkable path for the kid from the neighborhood in the Belfast suburb, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who grew up watching his dad, Stuart, also a central player, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's single match for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they competed on an synthetic surface and the stadium roof was sealed owing to conditions of -15C. "It was a extended travel and it was freezing," he says, grinning. "The days leading up, the academy prospects practiced as a group, so that assisted our preparation. Just to travel with the first team and get a couple of minutes at the end was incredible."

Moving On

How hard was it to leave United, the club he joined from Linfield aged his mid-teens? "It was relatively straightforward, because I reached the point where I knew I wouldn't break through at the senior squad. I'm extremely thankful for the experience gained but it became apparent where I thought I had to take a different path, drop down the leagues and play first-team games. Now I'm slowly climbing the ladder."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during the middle of the day at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has somewhere to be at 5pm: a driving theory test, another step towards getting on the road. Before his recent move to Sketty, the mid-twenties player was a constant rider in Swansea's nicknamed team minibus, a small coach driven by team personnel, Pete and Howard, which ferries players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"It's myself a teammate, another squad member, Malick Yalcouyé – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has started driving. It's nice to spend time with the teammates but I'm planning to be the subsequent individual out of the minibus and behind the wheel. Franco is known for his humor; he's constantly causing mischief."

Fan Interactions

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside followers on public transport after commuting at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
